The window in this Park Ridge Tower bedroom ran almost the full width of the wall, letting in more light than anyone living there wanted. The apartment was still empty when the owner called: bare walls, new beige floor tiles, nothing on the window at all, but the brief was clear from the start: block the sun completely without turning the room into a dark box. Fixing Expert took the job on 16 August 2026, and the full scope, from fabric choice to the final steam press, was finished in a single visit.

The room's only real advantage was a shallow recess above the window, deep enough to hide a track and let the curtain drop straight from ceiling to floor with no visible rail. That decided the mounting before anything else did. Our team measured the wall corner to corner, checked the recess depth, and set the width wide enough to keep the panels full when closed rather than stretched flat across the glass. Fabric came next, chosen on-site rather than from a catalogue photo. The owner worked through a set of blackout curtain samples held against the actual wall in the actual light, settling on a warm greige that reads as part of the room rather than a dark panel bolted onto it. Behind the face fabric, we stitched in a triple-weave blackout lining, chosen for the full width of the window rather than a lighter lining that would have let glare through at the seams.

The panels came pre-sewn to site with the track ready to mount. Our crew levelled the track across the full span of the recess first, since any tilt there shows up as an uneven drop later, then hung the panels one section at a time and let the fabric settle before touching anything else. The pinch pleat curtain heading was dressed by hand afterward; each fold was steamed, shaped, and tied so the fabric holds the pattern rather than falling flat within a week. Like all our custom-made curtains in Dubai, the hem was set to break gently against the tile rather than sit flush, softening the line where the curtain meets the floor and hiding small variations in window height.

What the fabric and fit actually did:

• Closed, the room goes properly dark; the only light left is a thin line along the floor where the hem breaks, thin enough to show the fabric is working rather than failing.
• Open, the panels stack cleanly at each side and leave the full window clear, which matters in a room this size where the window is also the main source of ventilation.
• The ceiling-mounted track and full drop make the wall and the room read taller than the actual ceiling height.
• The pleats were hand-dressed to hold their fold through daily use, not just for the handover photos.
