A home feels truly finished when every part of the room works together - the walls, the furniture, the floor, and the windows. For this project at Athreen in Downtown Dubai, the client wanted two key pieces that would pull the whole look together: new curtains for the windows and fresh rugs for the main floor areas. Handling both at once meant we could choose colours and textures that matched perfectly, giving the home a calm, designer feel.

Our team started with a site visit. Downtown Dubai apartments often have large windows with beautiful city views, and Athreen is no different. The natural light coming into the home was wonderful, but the client wanted to soften it and have more control over privacy in the evenings. For the rugs, the client wanted to warm up the main floor and create clear "zones" for sitting, dining, and relaxing.

We measured every window and every space where a rug would sit. We also talked with the client about how they use the home, the colours they love, and the feeling they wanted - relaxed, modern, and welcoming. Based on this, we recommended certain fabrics and rug designs that would work together as one family of finishes. When curtains and rugs share a colour story, a room feels calm and balanced without any extra effort.

For the curtains, we combined a soft sheer curtain layer with a heavier blockout layer in the main rooms. The sheer allows gentle daylight to come through during the day, while the blockout gives full privacy and darkness at night. Each curtain was tailored to the exact size of the window. For the rugs, we helped the client pick high-quality pieces with a soft feel and a practical, easy-to-clean material.

On installation day, our fitters installed strong curtain tracks and hung each blackout curtain with neat, even pleats, testing the opening and closing many times. We then placed the rugs with care, making sure they sat straight and centred in each area, with the right amount of floor showing around the edges.

The final result was a home that felt more complete, more relaxed, and much more "designed." The curtains softened the windows, controlled the light, and added quiet elegance. The rugs warmed the floor and gave the spaces a clear shape. Together, they turned a lovely apartment into a true home.
