Roman & Roller Blinds Installation in Masakin Al Furjan, Dubai

Summary

In September 2026 our team fitted Roman blinds and roller blinds in a two-bedroom apartment at Masakin Al Furjan in Dubai. The job covered three rooms in one day: the living room, the kitchen and the master bedroom. The owners wanted softer light in the living room, a blind that handles cooking steam, and a bedroom dark enough for a toddler's afternoon nap. Every blind was cut to sizes measured on site.

Project Overview

On 28 September 2026, the Fixing Expert crew worked through an apartment in Masakin Al Furjan, Dubai. We hung two oatmeal Roman blinds in the living room, fitted a clay-coloured roller blind over the kitchen sink and put a navy blackout roller blind in the master bedroom. Three rooms, six windows' worth of work, and two installers from the first drill hole to the last check.

How the project started

The owners moved in a month earlier and were still living with temporary paper blinds. They messaged us on WhatsApp after a week of the toddler waking up from every nap at 2 p.m., when the sun reached the bedroom window. The kitchen window had no cover at all, and the living room felt flat and bright through most of the afternoon.

We visited on the Thursday before the install. We measured each window in three places, because apartment frames are rarely perfectly square, and we used the smallest width in each case. The kitchen window sits over the sink and is only about 90 cm wide, so it has an inside mount. The bedroom blind went outside the recess so it overlaps the frame and keeps light from creeping in at the edges.

Fabric and colour choices

The apartment has light grey floor tiles and white walls, so the owners asked for warmth without a heavy look. They picked each fabric at the window, holding the swatch up in the afternoon light.

The living room Roman blinds are an oatmeal woven fabric with a visible linen-style slub and a cream lining behind it. The kitchen roller is a clay-coloured polyester with a fine, smooth weave that wipes clean with a damp cloth. The bedroom roller is a deep navy blackout fabric with a white coated back, which blocks the light and also reflects some of the heat.

How the day went

  1. We arrived at 9:00, covered the floors and checked the measurements against the frames once more.
  2. The master bedroom came first. We fixed the brackets, hung the roller blind and tested the side gaps with the lights off.
  3. In the kitchen we fixed the brackets into the aluminium window frame, not the tile, then hung the roller blind inside the recess.
  4. In the living room we mounted the Roman blinds, set the folds by hand and fixed the cord cleat high on the wall.
  5. At about 4:00 p.m. we walked through all three rooms with the owners and showed them how each blind works.

Living room

The living room has a balcony door and a side window, and the owners wanted each to have its own blind so they could open one and keep the other closed. We hung two Roman blinds in the oatmeal fabric, both on the same line so the tops and bottoms match across the wall.

A Roman blind folds into flat, even pleats as it rises, which is why it looks tidier over a door or window than a gathered curtain. The cord runs through rings sewn on the back, and we set the cleat well above a child's reach. The fabric hangs with a soft grain you can see from across the room, and the cream lining stops the sun from showing the weave through.

Kitchen

Cooking steam and splashes are hard on fabric, so the kitchen needed something that cleans easily. The roller blind in clay polyester sits inside the recess, a few millimetres from the glass, and rolls up into a slim tube. A wipe with a damp cloth takes off grease marks, and the blind does not hold smells like a thick fabric would.

Master bedroom

This blind had one job, which was to make the room dark enough for a daytime nap. We fitted the navy blackout roller outside the recess, with side channels on both edges so no light leaks around the fabric. The channels and the brackets that carry them need to be level and firmly fixed, and good blinds brackets fixing is what keeps the blind rolling straight instead of drifting to one side.

When we closed it with the lights off, the room stayed dark except for a thin line along the bottom edge. The owners were happy with that, since a little light at the floor helps them find the door at night.

Why one day was enough

A proper blinds installation is fast when the measuring has been done well, because there is nothing to adjust on the day. Each blind was made to the sizes we took on Thursday, so the crew only had to fix, hang and test. It also helps that blinds are fixed to a small area of the window, which keeps drilling and dust to a minimum.

If you are still choosing between styles, the types of blinds in Dubai are worth a look, since a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom rarely want the same one.

Want the same installation at your home?  Send us your window sizes and a few photos. We will review them and tell you what would work before you commit to anything.
