Sheer & Blackout Curtains Installation at Villa 14, Wadi Al-Safa, Dubai By Fixing Expert

The Problem they got 

The complaint was simple. Morning sun flooded the master bedroom of this Wadi Al-Safa villa and cut the owner's sleep short by hours. His old curtains hung too low for the window, so light spilled in from the top and both sides no matter how tightly he drew them. He wanted the room dark at night but not sealed off from daylight during the day, privacy without turning the bedroom into a cave. Our team visited on 27 August 2026, and measuring, fabric, and installation were all handled in that one visit.

The Blackout Layer 

We started with the opening itself rather than the glass alone. The window ran 4.2 metres wide with a 2.9 metre drop from the ceiling cove to the floor. We checked the width at three heights and the drop at three points, since villa ceilings rarely sit level end to end, and that settled two decisions early: the track would run to 5 metres so the panels could stack fully clear of the glass, and the mounting line would sit inside the cove rather than on the wall below it, which is what removed the top light gap he disliked most. For the blackout layer, we brought fabric samples to the villa instead of asking him to come to us, and held them against his own walls, soft blue on one side, deep coral on the other. Lighter shades washed out between the two tones, so we went with a triple-weave blackout in deep navy, dark enough to block light fully, colourfast, and calm enough to sit between both walls without fighting either one.

The Sheer Layer 

The second layer covered the daytime half of the brief. An ivory linen-blend sheer softens strong daylight without cutting it out, so the room stays bright without being exposed. We fitted a concealed dual-track system inside the cove, sheer on the inner rail, blackout on the outer, so either layer can be drawn on its own or both together without one catching on the other. Both use a soft S-fold heading for an even ripple across the width, and we added extra fullness to the navy panels so the colour reads rich rather than flat once closed. Matching tiebacks hold the blackout open during the day, clear of the sheer.

The Result 

Work started at 9am and the room was handed back the same evening, folds steamed and both tracks tested end to end. At midday the bedroom now goes properly dark with no light leaking from the top or sides, and with just the sheer drawn it stays private without losing its light. The higher, ceiling-mounted track also makes the window, and the wall around it, look taller than the old curtains ever did. Our installer walked both tracks one more time before handing back the keys.
